Motivation to lose weight is essential. If you are not motivated, then no weight loss system or program will work for you.
There are many ways to become motivated and to continue to remain motivated.
Here are just a few ways that your life will be better because of losing weight, whether it be a few pounds or 100's of pounds.
Our legs are designed to run, to jump, to skip, to walk, to hop, to crawl, to kneel, to bend and to support our body through any situation.
If we carry excessive weight, the burden on our legs is tremendous. We can no longer do most of the things that our legs are designed for and even getting up and down from chairs or stairs becomes a major mission. Our knees and hips tend to suffer the most, but our feet and ankles also take their share of the pressure. If we have any past injuries, these tend to become arthritic as we get older causing a catch 22 situation. We can't exercise because we are in pain and therefore we put on weight because we can no longer burn the excess calories off. As we eat we get heavier, putting more strain on our already injured joints and compounding the injury. We then eat because we feel depressed about our situation and add to our bulk which causes other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure to name just a few. These all compound together to shortening our life by several years, if not decades in some instances.
We only have one body and we must take control of it.
The sooner we realize this, the sooner we can do something about it.
Multi Sensory Motivation
Why do we need multi sensory motivation?
- Many of us have experienced emotional pain or possibly have had verbal or physical abuse inflicted upon us by those whom we trusted and who should have known better. They literally have taken away our power, but this power can be easily restored.
How does multi sensory motivation work?
- It takes 7 positive affirmations to undo the harm done by 1 negative gesture.
- We don't need someone else to tell us that we are a good person; we can tell ourselves using this multi sensory process.
- We first have to believe in ourselves and that we are worthy of love. No baby survives without being loved and fed and nurtured, if you are alive and well as an adult now, there have been many, many people who have shown that love for you. If you are educated and can read this site, you have been loved by many good teachers and by whomever sent you to school.
- We need to look at the good in ourselves and write this down on a piece of paper. Now the hard part, we need to seriously look at our negative side and write down these aspects too. Don't try to fool yourself; in some cases this list may be longer than the first, but we need to be truthful and resigned to identify and work on these negative aspects. If we neglect this work, then the good that we do will be undone.
- Imagine you have a car, you have just spent $1,000.00 on having the engine replaced, yet there are huge rust holes in the sides of the car that are letting the rain into the vehicle. You may have a new engine, but no one is going to want to drive anywhere with you!
- Identify the rust and work on these weaknesses and that new engine will take you anywhere and everybody will want to come along for the ride.
When do we apply the multi sensory motivation?
- Every morning when we first wake up we will apply the motivation to our fingers. Each day there will be times that urges and desires will try to overcome us, but look to your hand again and reinforce the multi sensory motivation. At night time before going to sleep recall your day and how you managed. Praise yourself for the times you stuck to your regime. Comfort yourself that this new learning is going to make a difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. By your motivation you will encourage others too. Then, just as you are drifting off to sleep go over the multi sensory motivation again. This will imprint on your brain and the effects of doing this night after night will see a new person emerge. This is also a good time to say your prayers and go to sleep peacefully.
Where can we apply the multi sensory motivation?
- Anywhere! Wherever we are most at risk of eating food that is not on our diet plan. Whether we are in the supermarket purchasing our essential groceries, whether we are at a restaurant, whether we are with friends or are at home alone watching television. Anywhere where we can see food and smell food are dangerous places for us. We must look to our hand and reinforce the multi sensory motivation technique and then smile with a self satisfied grin because we have beaten our urges and cravings.
Have you ever studied the life cycle of a butterfly? The egg is laid, the grub hatches and eats and eats and eats until it can eat no more. Then it works really hard. It spins and spins and spins yards and yards of silk and wraps itself up in it. This is the hardest part of it's whole existence, but the most worthwhile part. Because if no work is done, then it will only ever be a big fat grub and never be a butterfly. How sad that would be!
